About umbrlumbrl is a startup in the Insurtech space, part of a larger group. It was founded in June 2023 and has launched in the first few days of 2025. The RoleWe’re looking for a talented Growth UI/UX Designer to build on the incredible foundation laid by our 0-to-1 designer. Your mission: to craft seamless and engaging online experiences that delight our customers by:
- Growing customer acquisition through iterative experimentation and refinement of our online journeys, including umbrl’s website, insurance quoting tool, and client portal
- Continuously iterating and improving umbrl’s visual identity, brand, and UI in collaboration with the Product and Marketing teams
- Adopting a customer-centric approach to product growth rooted in qualitative and quantitative data, gathered through customer research as well as product performance analytics
This role is pivotal, standing at the core of our success by directly influencing customer satisfaction and loyalty. You will create both functional and appealing features that will address the needs of our clients, helping us grow and retain our customer base. To succeed, you will work closely with a team of Product Managers and Engineers. You will take a user-centred design approach: learning from customers, forming hypotheses about their problems and opportunities, identifying solutions, and rapidly testing and iterating your designs.
ResponsibilitiesAs a growth UI/UX Designer, your responsibilities include
- Collecting customer requirements
- Defining and iterating customer journeys, and
- Designing interactions and visual touch-points of our entire end-to-end experience
You should have experience with a range of design methods and tools to support customer research, UX design, UI design and brand design. As such, you will be expected to:
- UX proficiencyDrive qualitative customer research to understand problems and identify opportunities for growth acquisition and retention
- Work closely with the Product Manager to identify growth opportunities, using analytics and conducting qualitative and quantitative experiments. Design and iterate end-to-end customer journeys
- Rapidly explore solutions in collaborative way
- Drive and facilitate sessions with the team to gather stakeholder input and feedback
- Translate complex problems into elegant solutions
- UI expertiseHands-on UI craft of all aspects of umbrl’s B2C products and services
- High level of UI craft, with attention to detail
- Thorough understanding of UI design best practices and patterns, including expert knowledge of web standards, platform design guidelines across mobile and desktop, good understanding of design for responsive layouts, and solid understanding of accessibility principles and guidelines
- Strong focus on web layouts and graphics, and solid understanding of modern HTML and CSS
- Brand design expertiseIterate and grow the visual part of umbrl’s brand and brand guidelines and principles
- Apply the brand across various touch-points from mobile to desktop, and mediums including document design and advertising
