SCOPE:
The Senior Data Analyst will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making across the organisation. This is an internal facing role, responsible for developing and managing advanced Power BI reports tailored to the needs of various departments. Leveraging the existing Enterprise Data Warehouse. The Senior Data Analyst will ensure that these models provide accurate, insights that enhance strategic and operational outcomes across the growing business. This position requires close collaboration with stakeholders to understand departmental needs, translating them into dynamic dashboards and comprehensive reports that support key business functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, build, and maintain advanced Power BI models to support various departments, using data sourced from the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
Work closely with department leaders and stakeholders to identify data needs, develop reporting requirements, and deliver customised analytics solutions that drive key insights and internal decision-making.
Conduct in-depth analysis of datasets from both integrated sources within the Enterprise Data Warehouse and external internal systems not yet incorporated.
Ensure data accuracy and integrity by performing regular SQL validation checks to address data quality issues.
Utilize analytical skills to assess raw data and source system data models, ensuring comprehensive analysis before loading data into newly established Power BI models.
Optimize Power BI models for efficiency and performance, implementing best practices in data visualisation, report organisation, and query design.
Track, analyse, and report on key business metrics and trends, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and risks to address.
Develop advanced Power BI dashboards to deliver interactive and insightful visualisations that empower stakeholders to derive actionable insights from complex datasets using DAX.
Ability to analyze complex Excel spreadsheets to uncover underlying logic and calculations, enabling the transformation of data into automated Power BI reports.
Establish and maintain thorough documentation of all Power BI models, data sources, transformations, and processes, ensuring consistent reporting standards across the organisation.
REQUIRMENTS:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, with a strong emphasis on delivering actionable insights to diverse business functions.
Demonstrated expertise in creating advanced Power BI reports and dashboards, with a solid understanding of data modelling, DAX, and Power Query.
Experience optimising reports for performance and usability.
Advanced SQL skills with experience in querying complex data sets, writing optimised queries, and developing stored procedures for data extraction, transformation, and reporting.
Leverage a strong understanding of REST API structures to facilitate data retrieval and support engineering efforts in integrating these sources effectively.
Working with Azure SQL Database, coupled with the knowledge of industry-standard data warehousing methodologies such as; Kimball or Inmon.
Proficient in Excel, with a strong ability to manage, analyze, and manipulate large datasets effectively
Strong attention to data accuracy and integrity, with hands-on experience identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving data quality issues. Familiarity with best practices in data validation and cleaning.
Proven ability to translate business requirements into analytics solutions, using strong analytical thinking to derive meaningful insights from large datasets.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for explaining complex data concepts in a clear and understandable way to non-technical audiences.
Familiarity with enterprise data warehouse environments and experience working with structured and unstructured data from various sources.
Highly organised and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to learning and implementing new data analysis tools and techniques.
NICE TO HAVE (DESIRABLE):
Previous SaaS experience - working with Software as a Service (SaaS) companies
Familiarity with Azure Data Factory for data integration, pipeline creation and automated data workflows to support ETL processes.
Exposure to advanced analytics techniques such as predictive modeling, machine learning, or statistical analysis to enhance data insights
Experience with other BI and data visualization tools, such as Tableau, Qlik, or Looker, for a more comprehensive view of reporting practices.
Alteryx experience: Experience with Alteryx analytics platform is a plus, indicating expertise in data blending, advanced analytics, and workflow automation, which can enhance our data processing capabilities and accelerate insights generation.
